A new take on cabbage


Cabbage is one of those cruciferous vegetables that can completely lose it when cooked! Once cabbage was boiled to within an inch of its life and served up as a grey and wilted blob.

Not anymore. This recipe transforms the humble cabbage into something spicy and delicious, a tasty accompaniment to grilled meats.

Prep Time : 10 minutes

Cook Time : 10 – 15 minutes

Serves : 4 – 6

You will need

  • 400grams of cabbage sliced / shredded
  • Fresh garlic –3 gloves crushed
  • 2 tablespoons of coconut oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon of paprika
  • 2 teaspoons of ground turmeric
  • 2 teaspoons of mustard seeds
  • 1 green chilli sliced

how to

  1. Add coconut oil to wok and heat to medium / high
  2. Add fresh garlic, ginger and chilli and stir for 1 or 2 minutes
  3. Add turmeric, mustard seeds and paprika
  4. Cook, tossing until the mustard seeds start to pop
  5. Add sliced cabbage and toss for 4 to 5 minutes until cooked and crisp
  6. Season with salt and white pepper

Garnish with : Coriander leaves & peeled and thinly sliced fresh ginger

Serve with: Grilled meat
