We called into the Engine Room Cafe recently to meet owners Terry and Leanne Jennings and their team to find out for ourselves what makes this Toowoomba cafe so popular. The answer was simple…authenticity & an unwavering passion for good food!
Terry and Leanne make customer service their number one priority at The Engine Room Cafe and this was really obvious to me the day I called in for lunch. The cafe runs at a fast and efficient pace, fueled by the creative energy of chef Kelly and her talented team. From the moment we stepped into the kitchen to say hello it was clear to see how passionate the entire team are about food and that passion translates quite simply to happy customers at Engine Room. The new menu is great and the daily specials board extensive to say the least.
For lunch I decided on the “Mediterranean Chicken Stack”(above) Perfectly seared chicken breast atop a mouth-watering stack of roasted capsicum, sweet eggplant, pan fried mushrooms and asparagus served on a house made napoli sauce with a hint of basil. It was superb. The other meal that was a stand out for me due to the quality of the produce and the simplicity of the dish was the “Crispy skinned salmon”(pictured top) served on mash with wilted spinach, green beans, caramelised lemon and finished with a generous drizzle of chive hollandaise…yum!
The Engine Room have a range of delicious cakes and desserts,(all made onsite) as well as tasty burgers including their famous T-Bar Burger featuring a gourmet Wagyu beef patty, caramelized onion, bacon, salad, relish, mayo, cheese & BBQ sauce served with a serve of hand cut chips. Their signature coffee is Belaroma No 25. It is quite strong & smooth, pretty much a perfect combination for me. I loved it!
