Taste Test

I love sharing…

My idea of a great lunch is to plonk a mountain of delicious food in the middle of a table, add to that a couple of good bottles of wine and voila, the recipe for a great afternoon!

This style of feasting is one of the things I like about The Office, a stylish bar and eatery in the heart of the Toowoomba CBD

The menu crafted by talented chef Shayne Mansfield pays homage to his passion for fresh produce with many items featured on your plate from his own flourishing home garden

While we normally choose Australian wine ( and they do have a good selection), we settled on a glass of Fat Bastard Chardonnay from California US. Yes, we did choose it for the name, but it was a superb accompaniment to the bowl of southern fried chicken we chose from the snacks menu while we perused the menu

For shared mains you have a variety of choices including Romenco rubbed whole chicken, chicken caramel & roasted corn custard $28 (pictured), or Red wine slow braised beef cheeks, Jerusalem artichoke & brioche crumb $30. They also offer a slow roasted lamb shoulder or 12 hour cooked brisket for around the same price that you can team with some delicious sides & fries. We tried the peas & bacon with our bbq chicken and a salad that I would probably rate as one of the best things I have eaten all year…yes, that good! If sharing is not your thing there are some tempting meals for one including, Duck Rillettes, blueberry & fennel w a mini brioche loaf $18, a 250g rump steak w pomme frites and burnt butter béarnaise $22 or a tasty seafood chowder served with crusty rye for $18.

On this occasion we had no room left for dessert but choices included a rice pudding w wild berrie jam and burnt sugar and caramelised apple…yummo! The coffee was “Two Moo’s”& excellent.

Now that spring is here we definitely recommend a trip to the office…it gets a 5 star rating from the Dine team. (Indoor and outdoor dining available)
