A wise man once said “You can judge a pub by its Parmi”. If that is the case, then the Newtown Hotel can move to the top of the class. A monstrous sized chicken schnitzel arrived at our table topped with a delicious tomato sauce and melted cheese accompanied with chips and salad. We also ordered the Chicken with Bacon and Garlic Sauce – a perfectly cooked chicken breast wrapped in bacon and smothered in garlic cream sauce on a bed of chips served with salad. The Newtown Hotel has a spacious dining room with glass windows overlooking Hill Street – a perfect spot in the sun on a blustery winter day. We loved the quirky cutlery holders with jokes on them. The Newtown is a good old-fashioned pub with a modern menu with another wonderful surprise – the awesome 80’s pub rock playing in the background. VERDICT: A relaxing, fun lunch.
