The Spotted Cow one of Toowoomba’s iconic and popular pubs may be up for sale but it is business as usual in the kitchen as Chef Nathan Youngman launches a tempting new menu.
Like most foodies we love a good bar menu so when we wanted to settle in with friends for an afternoon catch up, the Cow was definitely a good choice.
The service was great from the get go and we were pleased with the respectable selection of quality wines by the glass. For the beer lovers, the Spotted Cow is right on the money, with a superb range of boutique beers on tap for you to try. The bar snack menu did not disappoint with top marks going to the beer battered onion rings, on point for flavour, crunch and value too ($5 for 10). We also devoured the Arancini with Rosemary salt and aioli $12 & the pulled pork sliders were popular with our guests at $15 for 3.
If you want to settle in for lunch you will find a stack of options all priced between $15 and $19. From a perfectly cooked 200g rump steak with your choice of sauce, chips and salad ($19) to Szechuan calamari ($17), a juicy beef and bacon burger (house made patties, delish – $18) or the winner of the day for me – Jewelled Cous Cous w roasted almonds, pomegranate, currants and herbs ($17) seriously there was so much depth of flavour in this dish. That combined with the crunch of almond and fresh pop of pomegranate. MMM seriously good!
Can’t wait to go back and try the dinner menu soon…
